Our lives forever changed on April 24th 1997, when our beautiful baby girl Baylee Ybarra Gatlin arrived. We had no idea the impact she would have on our family, friends, community and around the world. We are devastated by the loss of our Dear, Sweet Angel Baylee May 28th 2017.
Our light has gone out.
To know Baylee was to be swept up in her radiant, positive energy. She had that infectious, inviting smile that made you smile too – even if you didn’t want to. To know her was to know she was uniquely her, and proud of it. To know her was to be warmed by her presence. To know Baylee is to know Pure Love.
It’s a rare gift to make everyone you come across feel special. She had that gift. Many friends, family members, and acquaintances have shared with us just how special she made them feel. Whether it was a best friend, someone she had just met, or someone she waited on during her years as a server at Aloha Steakhouse - she wanted to make everyone feel loved and cared for, so she did. Her heart was truly endless and her capacity to love knew no boundaries.
If you want to honor Baylee, please do so by continuing the legacy she brought into this world. Pet every dog you come across; be kind to everyone but especially to those who need it just a little bit more; see the good in everyone you meet, listen to all kinds of good music and dance daily, stop to enjoy every sunset, make time for the people you cherish, surround yourself in beauty, honor the Earth, live in the moment, enjoy your favorite foods and don’t forget to “treat yourself”, show your family and friends that you love them and smile at everyone with an open heart.
Baylee attended Ventura Montessori, Poinsettia Elementary, Cabrillo Middle School, Foothill Technology High School and was attending Ventura College with plans to transfer to Cal Poly San Luis to study Viticulture and wine making.
Baylee left behind four loving Moms Susan (Sue) Ybarra-Telias, Carla Gatlin, Jordana Ybarra-Telias and Jeanie Naysmith, her Grandparents; “Grammy” Betty Gatlin, “Grandma” Tessie and “Grandpa Ken” Kollwitz, “Grandpa Lou” and Julie Ybarra, Grandma Carol Humphrey, Uncle Glenn Gatlin, “Uncle Poochie” Louie and Aunt Suzy Ybarra, Aunt Stefanie and Stephan Rodriguez, Aunt Marisa Aranda, Aunt Ari and Uncle Pat DeChellis, Uncle Robert Humphrey, Aunt Carrie and Uncle Steve Stokes, Uncle Carl and Aunt Henory Humphrey and Uncle Glenn Humphrey, “Aunt Wacky” Jackie Cates, Siblings Jessica and Jermaine Britton, Julie Fontes, Trish Fontes and Joey Waltz, Nephew Anthony Janckila, Nieces Karli Boyd and Selene Britton, Sol, Luna and Naya Rodriguez, Kadelynn Aranda, Cousins Kandyse and Dusty Deam, Jamee Ybarra, Louis Ybarra, Aaron Telias, Robby Humphrey, Rayanne, Brooke, and Cory Malony, Bradley, Sean, Hailey, Katelyn, and Rohan Humphrey and Baylee’s recently-found, same-aged triplet siblings Ian, Isabel and Ingrid Little and many more extended family members and friends who loved her dearly.
Baylee is preceded in death by her Great-Grandpa George Bravo, Grandma Ruby (Word) Faria, “Papa” Glenn Gatlin, Aunt Jane Gatlin and “Papa Jack” Telias.
We will remember Baylee every minute, every day, every year and at every family occasion we will struggle without her. We will see her in everything beautiful; butterflies, flowers, sunsets, rainbows, crystals, and we know that amongst the many stars, One will be a bright light shining down on us.
Baylee’s Family is thankful for the love, support, hugs and resources the Community has provided during this difficult time. But it’s the personal stories about how Baylee touched your lives that mean the most to us so please keep them coming so Baylee may continue to be a part of our daily lives.
We will hold a Memorial of Love for Baylee Ybarra Gatlin on Sunday June 11th at 10am, at the Ventura Promenade between Aloha Steakhouse and the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
In lieu of flowers donate your time to help and support animal rescue and human rights organizations, or any of the many causes Baylee championed. Or as we like to say, pay-it “Baylee Forward”.
Arrangements under the direction of Ted Mayr Funeral Home, Ventura, CA.
