Arlene Jones, 46, of Ventura, passed away on February 5, 2013. Arlene was born in San Jose, on December 17, 1965, to parents John and Manuela Mac Tavish. She was raised in Aptos and then moved to Goleta and attended college in Santa Barbara. She eventually settled in Ventura, with her husband, Eric Andre Jones. Arlene became a pre-school teacher at Temple B’nai B’rith after graduating with an Associate’s Degree.
Arlene enjoyed cooking desserts, watching romantic comedies and listening to music (especially Michael Jackson). She loved Disneyland and traveling to fun destinations. She cared for others more than herself, and was a wonderful mother and loving wife. Her kind heart and love for children made them gravitate towards her. Many of her friends have fond memories of watching her interact with children.
Arlene is survived by her husband of 21 years, Eric Andre Jones and her daughters Ashley Kendall and Ava Zeta all of Ventura; step-daughter Shamar Denise Hudson of Madera; father, John Fraser MacTavish (Doris) of Aptos; brother John MacTavish (Debbie) of Chico; sisters Brenda Lotridge (Jim) of Napa, and Kathleen Stavrinides (Jim) of Petaluma, CA; father-in-law JW Jones Sr. of Modesto; brothers-in-law James Jones (Terry), JW Jones, Jr. (Anna), Franklin Jones (Brenda), and Michael Jones (Dea); sisters-in-law Mary Veal, Janie Harris and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother Manuela; mother-in-law Julia Mae Jones; brothers-in-law Kenneth Wayne Jones and Jeffrey Jay Jones; sister-in-law Beverly Ann Collins.
Visitation will take place Monday, February 11, from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura
Memorial service will take place Tuesday, February 12, 1:30 P.M. at Ventura Missionary Church, 500 High Point Drive, Ventura, and a reception will follow.
