Born to Lillian and Charles H. Rowell in Miami, FL and the youngest of 5 children, Charlie is survived by his loving wife, Charlene and his sister, Shirley and oldest daughter, Kimberly Dempsey and stepdaughter, Chantille Manuel. He has 2 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his youngest daughter, Carol Lynn, his older brother, Charles and older sisters Jeanne and Lorraine.
Charlie was so proud of his military services as a fighting “Seabee” and truly possessed the “Can Do!” motto and spirit having served in Vietnam at the height of the war. As was said, “when I die I’ll go to heaven because I’ve spend my time in Hell”.
As general manager of Rowell’s Marina in Key Largo, he joined the family business and maintained a strong connection to the community for 38 years. He was everyone’s knight in shining armor and took up a lot of causes. Sometimes he got knocked down by hurricanes or other deterrents, but like “Weebles”, he wobbled but did not fall down.
As we send Charlie off into the sunset, he will continue to dance on the water to Jimmy Buffet tunes and send shimmering ripples of light across Blackwater Sound and forever hear the sound of line stripping from his reel with “Fish On!”
Love you more – to the moon and back!
