Monica Ann Madden, 100, passed away peacefully, February 25, 2015 in Longview, Washington. Born September 4, 1914 in Greeley, Nebraska to William and Mary Harrahill, Monica was fun and full of life up till her passing.
She married Ralph Kastner and they made their home in Vancouver, WA. Together they had 3 children Ralph Jr, Katherine “Kay” and Michael before Ralph’s early death.
Monica worked at Safeway for many years and valued her membership with St. Joseph’s Church in Vancouver. She took to golf and bowling as a way to stay active and enjoy her leisure time. Still in her 90’s was bowling a high 200 game.
Family meant everything to her and as her grandkids and great grandchildren grew, visits and events brought great joy to her. They all loved listening to her life adventures.
Monica is survived by her son Ralph (Judie) Kastner; step-son Mike (Jeanne) Madden; grandchildren Pat (Shelley) Collins, Casey (Sue) Collins, Tom Collins, Julie Kastner, Eric (Vanessa) Kastner; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Monica was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph Kastner, Sr., second husband William Madden, son Mike Kastner, daughter Kay Collins-Herb, as well as 6 siblings.
