Kam Yin (Gordon) Chiu was born in Guangdong, China on July 6, 1935 and passed away in Burnaby, British Columbia on July 30, 2022 at the age of 87 years. Kam Yin immigrated to Canada on August 29th 1953. He married Bik Wan Chiu on June 24th 1961, and for rest of his life he dedicated himself in supporting and raising 3 beautiful children: Desmond, Patrick and Levern. Kam Yin worked at various jobs including Captain Cook’s Restaurant and Todd’s Reddi Hot Foods. In 1977, our family took a bold move and purchased and ran a corner grocery store in New Westminster. After his retirement in the 90's, he always kept busy with travel, activities at the senior community centre and finally his devotion to the Maitreya Buddhist Temple.
He leaves behind 3 happily married kids Desmond (Elaine), Pat (Diana) and Levern (Bob); and 7 wonderful grandchildren (Victoria, Alicia, Jessica, Kristina, Richard, Alexander and Sylvia). Kam Yin will be dearly missed by his family, relatives and friends.
A Visitation will be held at Glenhaven Memorial Chapel, 1835 East Hastings Street in Vancouver on Monday, August 15, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at Glenhaven Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at 12:30 pm. Interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 3789 Royal Oak Avenue in Burnaby. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared below for the Chiu family.
