June 30, 1961 - June 10, 2024
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Joyce Frances Stevens on June 10, 2024, due to complications from a stem cell transplant to treat myelofibrosis at Vancouver General Hospital.
Joyce was born on June 30, 1961, in Chatham, Ontario, and her life was filled with love, adventure, and cherished relationships.
Joyce is survived by the love of her life, her devoted husband Phil Stevens; her beloved children, daughter Amanda Stevens (husband Daniel Anderson) and son Andrew Stevens (wife Cassandra Pitts); and their sweet Wheaton Terrier, Bayvin. She is also lovingly remembered by her sister Ruth Luyt (Alan), and brothers Dennis Edmondson (Margaret), Mark Edmondson (Chris), John Edmondson (Patricia), and many lovely nieces and nephews. Joyce was predeceased by her beautiful parents, John and Frances Edmondson.
Throughout her life, Joyce's journey took her and her family from Chatham, to Corunna, to North Bay, back to Sarnia, and ultimately to Kelowna, BC in 2017 to be closer to their children in the west
Joyce had a passion for exploring the Georgian Bay area and Killbear Provincial Park on kayaks with Phil. She treasured the wonderful friendships she made in both Ontario and Kelowna, and she found peace and relaxation on family vacations to Huatulco.
A small celebration of life will be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider honouring Joyce by donating to Canadian Blood Services - Stem Cell Research, or by donating blood or plasma through Canadian Blood Services.
We would like to thank the Bone Marrow Transplant and ICU teams at Vancouver General Hospital for their compassion and care during Joyce’s short stay.
We love you so much, Joyce/Mom. We are absolutely heartbroken by your loss.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.MountPleasantFuneral.com for the Stevens family.
