Nee Gail Susan DeGraaf, previously known as Gail Jordan and Susan McKegney. It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the family announce the sudden passing of their treasured mother and Nana. Born in Vancouver, Susan was a long-time resident of the Westside, False Creek and more recently, the West End. A natural born teacher and counsellor, she began her career with the Vancouver School Board in 1975 as an early ESL teacher, later moved to Resource and ended her career as a Case Worker for at risk youth.
Susie, as she liked to be called, brightened up any space she walked into and always had a quick, easy smile, a warm, welcoming embrace and was always ready to jump in to lend a hand, provide a listening ear, offer insightful advice & support or whip up a quick snack. She was a caring teacher, a loyal friend, a dedicated sorority sister, a gracious hostess, a devoted wife, a loving mother, an adoring Nana and an avid Scrabble player to the end!
She is predeceased by her mother and father, Derek & Gladys DeGraaf and her husband Tony Lupis and leaves behind her daughter Stacey Jordan Leduc (Francis) and son Ryan Jordan (Lise) and four beloved grandchildren Matthew & Elissa (Stacey) and Zachary & Benjamin (Ryan). She is also survived by Tony's children, Michael Lupis (Deanna) and Michelle Barker (Russ) and Tony's five grandchildren, Justin, Jakob, Sabrina (Michael) and James & Stevie (Michelle). Susie loved family and all things social. She was happiest in a crowd of people and she will be dearly missed by all.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held in her honour, Saturday, October 28th, @ 2:30pm with a Reception to immediately follow, The Sylvia Hotel, Main Dining Room (East), 1154 Guildford St, Vancouver BC – Access off Beach Avenue. The favour of an RSVP is requested to Stacey, [email protected] or 604.916.5789.
In lieu of Flowers, Donations requested to the Vancouver Hospice Society.
