Donna Gayle Long

August 16, 1952 - July 6, 2021

Donna Long was born in Vancouver on August 16, 1952 to George and Merle Wilson and the youngest of 4 sisters, Sandra, Carol and Darlene. Donna went on to work for BC-TEL starting in 1970, where she made many lifelong friends and would eventually meet her Husband Grant. She enjoyed her work very much and would eventually retire in 2006. She enjoyed her retirement by spending time with family, swimming at Sungod Recreation Center with her friends and going on many adventures to Africa, Europe and the United States.

Unfortunately, in June of 2020 it was discovered that Donna had cancer. She underwent multiple surgeries, chemotherapy and radiation all within a 6-month period. She recovered from her surgeries and treatments well, but the cancer was simply too aggressive and spreading too quickly.

Donna died on July 6, 2021 at Surrey Memorial Hospital after a long battle with cancer, her Son by her side.

The cancer took many things from Donna, ultimately her life, but it could not take away her dignity, courage, sense of humour and the love, compassion and concern she had for her family and friends.

She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.

Donna is predeceased by her Husband Grant, her Stepson Kurt, her Mother Merle, her Father George and her Sister Carol.

We may take comfort in the knowledge that Donna is finally at peace and reunited with the loved ones she lost so many years ago.
