Arnaldo was the eldest son born on May 16, 1939, in Camarines Sur, Philippines, to Luis and Brigida in a family of six. At age 10, the family moved to Sandakan, Sabah, Malaysia when father Luis accepted a government contract to work as a Forestry Officer. He completed his education at St. Mary's School, Sandakan. In 1956, he attended technical trade school in Brunei Darussalem, and thereafter employed by Brunei Shell Petroleum as a telecoms technician. He rose through the ranks to become a Telecoms Engineer who supervised teams of operators and technicians in the Telecommunications Department until the family migrated to Canada in 1987. He enjoyed playing golf, billiards and darts. He also loved playing the clarinet, guitar, ukulele and harmonica.
Arnaldo married Bernardine on July 11, 1964, at St.Mary’s Church in Sandakan, Sabah, Malaysia. They were blessed with four children – Ernesto (& Esther), Laura, Caroline (& Andrew) and Marcellina, all born in Brunei.
After settling in Vancouver, he worked in various jobs and as a licensed insurance salesman. He played and sang in his church’s choir and participated in many parish activities.
Arnaldo leaves behind siblings Nenita (& Ram), Marvel (& Rose), Luisa, and sister-in-law Lucille, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He will soon be reunited with his parents, brother Manuel and little sister Divina.
