Virginia Aileen Taylor, 92, of Alma, passed away Friday, August 4, 2023 at her home. Aileen was born August 31, 1930 in Dustin, OK to the late Joseph C. and Della (Rains) Taylor. She grew up and attended school in Dustin, graduating from Dustin High School as valedictorian in 1948. While in high school, she met Earl Taylor. In November of 1948, Earl and Aileen were married in Okmulgee, OK. Aileen was a faithful Christian and member of Concord Baptist Church. She read through her Bible yearly, prayed for us daily, and was always willing to add another name to her prayer list. She retired from Sparks Hospital after 28 years as a surgical nurse and surgery scheduler.
In addition to her parents, Aileen was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Earl Taylor; four sisters, Maurice Abbott, Vermetta Hogan, June Rutherford, and Joyce Puckett; five brothers, Joseph Taylor Jr., Marvin Taylor, Wayne Taylor, George Taylor, and Curtis Taylor; and a great-grandson, Eli Craver.
Those she leaves to cherish her memories are two sisters, Gayle Henry of Wichita, KS and Evelyn Harmon of Tulsa; along with her children, Dr. Michael Taylor and wife Dianne of Sachse, Texas, David Taylor of Fort Smith, Linda Sullivan and husband Fred of Alma, Jerry Taylor and wife Sarah of Tulsa, and Roger Taylor and wife Jennifer of Alma. Aileen also leaves behind ten grandchildren, Jennifer Stewart, Philip Taylor, Jana Beckham, Kim Sullivan, Jonathan Sullivan, Christy Davis, Jordan Taylor, Hanna Craver, Kelsey Taylor, and McKenna Taylor, fifteen great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Fort Smith, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR. Dr. Michael Taylor will officiate.
The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
