Robert Gary Mack

While serving in the US Army he was stationed at Fort Sill and ended up in Arkansas, where he raised a family, pursued his career in Sheet Metal and was a dedicated Union (36) card holder. He was a Vietnam Vet, served in Desert Storm and Nobel Eagle and later retired from the Army National Guard, NNB 2nd BN 142 FA with many awards. He was a member of the American Legion Post 31.

He was a bowler, a runner, and bike rider but most of all he was a brother, son, father, husband and the best “Poppy” in the world. He was Santa, the tooth fairy, the Easter bunny, the mentor, the teacher, the mechanic, the guy to call when life got hard and the birthday fun guy always willing to get stuck in the tunnels at parties so his grandchildren could push him through.

He jumped out of an airplane, he lived life to the fullest and when he gave advice it was be happy, love with your whole heart, work hard and have faith. His faith never wavered. He will be missed, but will be carried in our hearts.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Mack.

He is survived by his wife, Susie Mack of the home; two sons, Robert Mack, Jr. (Stacy) of Greenwood , and Jeffery Mack of Barling; two bonus daughters, Tina Ruiz (Danny) of Phoenix, AZ, and Tammy Phillips of Barling; a bonus son, Dale Brown (Laurie) of Mountainburg; a brother, Bill Mack (Angela) of Barnsville, PA; fourteen grandchildren, Jada Mack, Ryder Mack, Nicole Mack, Timothy Mack, Richard Bennett, Brianna Mack, Landon and Linzee Brown, Dionicio Brown (Whitney), Faustino DeLaRosa (Destiny), and Leise, Melissa, Rodney (Bree) and Gabriel Ramirez; and nine great-grandchildren, Jordan Wicker, J.J., Elijah Madrid, Jeremiah Estrada, Iyanna, Isabella, Ivy DeLaRosa, Adylan, Natalee, Noah Brown.

The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, April 1, 2024, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR. Following the visitation he will be cremated under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
