Larry Don Goins, 83, of Fort Smith, passed away Monday, October 28, 2024 in a local hospital. He was born September 19, 1941 in Fort Smith to the late Alvin and Virginia Howser Goins. He was of the Baptist faith.
Larry was a very successful entrepreneur. He built many businesses starting with Goins Carpets ad Drapes in 1970. There were multiple businesses that followed. He built many residential homes along with retirement homes that began with Oakridge Retirement Home. He opened Bear Mountain Pawn and Gun Shop. His businesses continue on with River Valley Golf Course.
Larry’s most important accomplishment in life was his family. He was a devoted husband, dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa. His family was everything to him.
His life truly began when he met the love of his life. They were married for 65 beautiful years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Goins; a grandson, Braxton Goins; and a brother, Thomas Goins.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Goins of the home; two daughters, Sherry Iglesias (Carlos) and Angela Conway, all of Orlando; a son, David Goins of Alma; a sister, Patricia Carruth of Fort Smith; nine grandchildren, Dustin, Chelsey, Dallas, Zoie, Bryson, Layne, Walker, Chase, and Caden; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 1, 2024 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Smith, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
Pallbearers will be Carlos Iglesias, Dustin Baugh, Dallas Baugh, Derek Fry, Kevin Henson, and Danny Wilkerson.
The family will visit with friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 1, 2024, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
