Juanita Orine Nixon, 101, of Mulberry, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2024 in Alma. She was born December 17, 1922 in Cowlington, OK to the late Orvil and Grace (Williams) Reed. She was born five years after Oklahoma became a state. She had worked for Hunt’s Department Store, and was loved and will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billie Nixon; a sister, Veda Ridenour; and a brother, Lester Reed.
She is survived by a daughter, Brenda Alston of Ozark; a son, Bobby Nixon, Sr. and wife Glynda of Mulberry; a sister, Olita White of Fort Smith; six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 14, 2024 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at the Fort Smith National Cemetery, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
Pallbearers will be Kip Ledbetter, Bobby Nixon, Jr., Zachary Nixon, Jacob Ledbetter, Cordell Landon, and Chris Beaty.
