Joyce “Jean” Parker, 75, of Van Buren, passed away Sunday, December 13, 2020 in Fort Smith. She was born August 26, 1945 in Van Buren. She had worked for the Alma Walmart, and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dave Parker; and her parents, Joe Mathis and Mary Butler Mathis.
She is survived by a daughter, Shanna Copeland of Van Buren; two sons, Wade Hickman of Fort Smith, and Shawn Hickman of Greenwood; two sisters, Carolyn Harrison of Charleston, and Mary Mondier of Fort Smith; two brothers, William Black and Ricky Black, both of Van Buren; seventeen grandchildren, Jason Buffenmeyer, Michael Hickman, Amanda Hickman, Kenzie Pelt, Madie Pelt, Scott Montgomery, Rayce Montgomery, Jeremiah Copeland, Savanna Copeland, Heather Davis, Hunnt Hickman, Holly Hickman, Hannah Deaver, Hailey “Nikki” Hickman, Hope Chronister, Hart Hickman, and Hadleigh Hickman; and twelve great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 19 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Alma with interment to follow at Gill Cemetery, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Viewing will be from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday and Friday, December 17 and 18, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
The family will visit with friends at the church immediately following the burial.
