Jamie Ruth Merritt, 76, of Fort Smith, AR, died Tuesday, May 24, 2011 in a local hospital. She was born May 31, 1934 in Rudy, AR. She retired from Fort Roots Veterans Hospital in North Little Rock, AR and First National Bank of Fort Smith, AR after twenty years. She was preceded in death by her parents Euella and Freida Wofford.
She is survived by a daughter, Sharon Scott-Pitts and her husband Dean of Van Buren, AR; a sister, Linda Wofford Smith and her husband Barry of Kingsport, TN; three grandchildren, Mariko Beldsoe, Whitney Pitts and Hailey Pitts and a great grandchild, Kenyon Beldsoe.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 27, 2011 at Edwards Van-Alma Chapel in Van Buren, AR with burial at Oliver Springs Cemetery in Oliver Springs Community under the direction of Edwards Van Alma Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Dean Pitts, Barry Smith, Ken Smith, Scott Price, Chris Price and Josh Price.
The family will receive friends from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. Thursday, May 26, 2011 at Edwards Van Alma Funeral Home.
