Edna Pauline Andrews Pierce, 82, of Van Buren, passed away Friday, April 19, 2024. She was born July 21, 1941 in Cherry Valley, Arkansas to the late Harrison and Pearl (Woody) Andrews. She graduated in 1969 from Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan with her nursing degree. Highlights of her career were working with Dr. Kenneth New at Millard Henry Clinic and her 37-year career at St. Edward Mercy Medical in Fort Smith. She was well-known and loved for her outgoing personality and crazy antics. She was of the Assembly of God faith.
Pauline married Walter Canady on September 2, 1959 and shared four children during their 20-year marriage. She was married to Russell Pitchford and had a wonderful life with him from November 1982 until his death in April 2004. She was married to W.J. Pierce from February 2015 until his death in August 2023.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Russell Pitchford and W.J. “Dub” Pierce, as well as, her children’s father, Walter Canady; three brothers, H.J., Ricky, and Jerry Andrews; and a nephew, Darrell Wayne Andrews.
She is survived by her children, Michael Canady (Nancy) of Van Buren, Theresa Canady of North Little Rock, Tammy Everetts of Benton, and Tiffany Canady (Ben) of Fort Smith. Pauline is survived by her only sister and best friend, Shirley Andrews Wilson, and her beloved brother, Eli Andrews. Pauline adored her nine grandchildren, Crystal Canady, April Canady, Erica Howard (Phil), Tessa Clemmons (Blake), Mason Canady, her only grandson and born on her birthday, Kylie Sanders (Quinten), McKenzie Canady, Kasie Wilkerson, and Michaela Williams (Levi); and fourteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Betty Van Lue who was very special to her. She greatly loved her many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Special thanks to niece, Cindy Rushing Mitchell for the extra care of both Pauline and Dub; and to nephew, Greg Andrews for going the extra mile in helping. Additional thanks to Patsy Moyers and Gail Mitchell for their love, attention, and all the rides to the doctors’ offices. She will never be forgotten – may we remember her laughter forever.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Gill Cemetery, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
Pallbearers will be Blake Clemmons, Quinten Sanders, Levi Williams, Ace Clemmons, Ben Scott, and Jordin Canady-Hernandez.
The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
