Mr. Thomas Joseph Deighan, aged 89, of Upland, CA, was called to his eternal rest on April 13, 2024, at the home of his daughter Jeanine and son-in-law John. Thomas was a devout Catholic man, a wonderful father and a testament to the grace of a life well-lived in the service of others.
Thomas's generosity of spirit and boundless loving-kindness were the hallmarks of his life. He served as an officer in the Civil Air Patrol, where he embraced the call to aid his fellow man, soaring through the skies on many search and rescue missions, embodying the guardian angel that many came to see in him.
Thomas's professional life was marked by his steadfast dedication, beginning in Life Insurance in San Diego and culminating in a 30-year tenure at General Dynamics Pomona as a cost controller. He carried his light into his post-retirement work at Aspen Family Medical Group, where his joyful presence became a source of comfort and inspiration to all he encountered.
He leaves behind his wife Peggy Roush and his children: Mike Deighan (spouse Rebecca), Jeanine Deighan-Fagan (spouse John Fagan M.D.), Thomas Deighan (spouse Destine Deighan), and Kathy Deighan-Spencer (spouse Ray Spencer). Thomas was reunited in Heaven with his first wife, Bonnie Thurston Deighan, and his son, John Ward Deighan, who preceded him in glory.
Thomas's legacy is enshrined in his descendants - his treasured grandchildren and great-grandchildren - and in the countless lives he touched with his compassion, humility, and unwavering respect for all of God's people.
Educated at Saint Joseph Catholic School and Pomona Catholic School, he went on to San Diego State University and graduated in 1958. On the field, he demonstrated the virtues of teamwork and perseverance through football and rugby but in the skies, he fulfilled his love for God's vast creation as a private pilot.
The Deighan family invites you to a celebration of Thomas's life and his journey home to the Lord at Saint Peter & Saint Paul Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass will be offered in his honor at 10:30 a.m.
