September 23, 1925- November 24, 2018
Dr. Louis John Stoap was born in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, on September 23, 1925. The 2nd youngest of 5 brothers and 2 sisters, Dr. Stoap and his family immigrated to the United States, residing here in Upland in 1959. He is survived by his wife, Theresia, “the love of his life”, his daughters Loekie and Shirley, his son Corrie, his grandchildren Brandon, Ginger, Joseph, James, Marissa and Julianna, great grandchildren, Bella, Lukas, Brandon, Reggie, and Brooklyn.
Growing up in Holland during WW 2 was difficult and when old enough he joined the Dutch military, stationed in Indonesia and fell in love with his beautiful wife, Theresia. The two went back to Holland by boat, then years later to the USA, quite the journey with lots of uncertainty and many exciting adventures…ending here in Upland so amazingly well. He set an example of how to live a full, productive, healthy and happy life. Intelligent and creative, he was foremost a great husband, father and grandfather. From his career with Perkin Elmer and Lockheed Martin, to his involvement with NASA and space exploration, everyone he came in contact knew he was special. Simply put, he was a “good man”.
Loek, Dad, Opa…you have enriched our lives in so many ways. We are eternally grateful. You will live in our hearts and minds forever. Rest In Peace.
In honor of Dr. Stoap, there will be a memorial service on the 28th February, 2019 at 11:00 AM.
