Joe M. Muñoz

Joe M. Muñoz loving husband, father, grandfather, great grand- father and friend, died peacefully on August 8, 2011. His loving wife of 64 years, Esther, was at his side. He was born in Aguascalientes, Mexico on July 6, 1923. The youngest of 5 children, he came to the U.S. at the age of 5. Even as a young child he was hardworking and responsible, harvesting crops alongside his family in the San Joaquin Valley and local orchards. At the age of 15, he bought his first house, providing a home for his mother and extended family. He became a U.S. citizen and began his military service in 1945. For 31 years he worked as a grocery produce manager. He will long be remembered for his love of birds. He is survived by his lovely wife, Esther; 4 children and their spouses: Joe (Laura), Margarita, David (Vicki), Stella (Brad); 10 grandchildren: Ryan, Marcus, Daniel, Damian, Estevan, Matthew, Jonathan, Patrick, Nicole, Alejandro; and 6 great grandchildren: Liam, Evie, Henden, Eva, Estela, and Aurelio. The family would like to thank the staff at Chapman Hospice and the Heritage Park Nursing Center for the gentle care they gave him. Rosary will be held on August 20th at 8:30 A.M. with Mass at 9:00 A.M. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Upland, followed by the interment at Bellevue Cemetery in Ontario, CA.
