Robert T. Wolfkill of Schertz, Texas died on February 6, 2018. His life of 89 years was sometimes arduous and often adventurous, yet he met every challenge with good humor, kindness and a legendary generosity. Born on January 31, 1929 in Lewistown, PA, Bob spent his youth in Baltimore, MD before joining the Navy in 1946. From there he moved on to the Army, eventually meeting his wife of 53 years, Chizuko Linda Okaji, in Japan. They had two children, Patricia and Robert, and the family lived a nomadic life, spending time in Virginia, Louisiana, Maryland, California, Texas, Kansas, France and Italy. In 1977, Bob retired from the Army and moved to Copperas Cove, TX. He began a second career as a civil servant, ultimately working for the Army Corps of Engineers, which necessitated moves to Texarkana and San Antonio. After only a year in Schertz, faced with the prospect of yet another move, Bob retired from civil service and took up bus driving for the Schertz elementary schools, a job he truly loved. He would remain in contact with some of his "kids" even after they grew up and became parents themselves. A unique soul, Bob enjoyed cracking bad jokes and conversing with friends, neighbors and even strangers. He will be sorely missed. Pre-deceased by his wife Linda, Bob is survived by his children Patricia and Robert, and daughter-in-law, Lissa Alspach. A memorial service will be held at Colonial Funeral Home in Universal City on February 27, 2018. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial donations be made to one of his favorite causes, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
