Linda “Florence” Lehndorff Parrish, 93, went home to be with Jesus Christ her Savior on Sunday, April 12th, 2015. She was born in Upper Darby, PA to Albert and Ada (Falls) Lehndorff who preceded her in death. Linda was also preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. James M. Parrish (Ret.). Survivors include her daughter, Deborah L. Parrish, of San Antonio, and step-daughter, Patti Parrish of Weatherford, TX, brother, William Lehndorff family of Pennsylvania, in-laws, Leslie Parrish family of Arizona, Betty (Parrish) Denning family of Odessa, TX, Ben Parrish family of Alaska, Katherine (Parrish) Miller family of Dallas, TX, and (adoptive) Claire Stafford family.
She was a world traveler, highly educated, a talented dancer, far-sighted educator, fashion queen, show dog mother, enthusiastic bridge player, loyal to her closest friends for years, devoted wife to an Air Force officer, and dedicated mother to her only child, Deborah Parrish.
Linda, a life-long educator, ended her career as a teacher of elementary gifted and talented students. As a former educator, Linda traveled to Austin to encourage the legislature to limit class-sizing and to encourage Gifted and Talented programs. Her efforts contributed to setting the standards that now exist in Texas schools of 22 students per classroom in grades K-4.
After the death of her husband, Linda moved into the ARC Retirement Center. It was there she received Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Deborah deeply appreciates the loving care given to her mother by the staff of the ARC; Katie and Amanda from Griswold Home Care; and Rebecca and staff at Heart to Heart Hospice. Any memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimer Foundation.
