James Larry Thomas "Jim" was born on August 31, 1941 in Elizabethtown, KY. He is preceded in death by his wife, Chris, his Mother, Father, 2 brothers, and a sister. Growing up, Jim was a good student and was a part of the High School basketball team. After graduation he joined the U.S.A.F. where he became a computer programmer. He was sent to Vietnam during the war. After the war he also served some stateside as well as Greenland and the United Kingdom. While in England he met and married his wife of 45 years. Shortly after they made their way back to the states and eventually retiring in San Antonio, TX.
For those who knew Jim know he's a man of few words, but no one ever doubted his love and dedication to his family. He loved his morning paper, crossword puzzles, playing online poker and even going to the horse races from time to time. He dedicated many years of his life to taking care of Chris when she became ill, even despite his own declining health.
He leaves behind a daughter Rachelle (pronounced like Rachel) and a granddaughter, Chloe Elizabeth.
And we would like to extend a very special Thank You to Brien (Rachelle's husband) who selflessly moved in and took full time care of Jim his last few months of his life. We couldn't have dove all this without you.
A graveside service with military honors for James will be held Monday, October 9, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, 17501 Nacogdoches Rd., San Antonio, TX 78266.
