Grant William Dunn

Grant was born on July 22, 1938 in El Dorado, Kansas to Leburn Dunn and Jean (Salisbury) Dunn. On May 6, 1958 he joined the United States Air Force at nineteen years old. He served for twenty-eight years and retired as a Chief Master Sergeant on December 31, 1986. During his military career, he served in Misawa Air Base, Japan; McConnell AFB, Kansas; Connelly Air Force Base, Waco; Bergstrom AFB in Austin; and Randolph AFB in Universal City, Texas. He also served overseas in Takhli, Thailand; and Keflavik, Iceland.

After retiring from the Air Force, he worked at Acme Lumber, earned his Associate's Degree in Building Construction, became a Freemason, and worked independently as a general contractor with his friend Will Vick. He also enjoyed spending time at the lake, fishing and boating with friends and family. Grant was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and graciously gave his time and help to anyone who asked.

Grant is preceded in death by his father Leburn F. Dunn and mother Jean (Salisbury) Dunn, brothers Darrell Dunn from Valley Center, Kansas and Melvin Dunn of El Dorado, Kansas.

Grant leaves behind to honor his legacy; his wife, of sixty-two years, Setsuko (Mae) Dunn, His three daughters; Sandra Lafferty (husband Robert Lafferty) Debbie Talley (husband Lee Talley) and Marsha Wiltz (husband Merlen Wiltz), two brothers; Philip Clare and Vinson Dunn, and six grandchildren; Megan Lafferty, Robert Lafferty, Grant Lafferty, Nicholas Talley, Alex Talley and Samuel Wiltz.

Visitation will be held from 5:00p.m.-8:00p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2024 at Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Rd., Universal City, TX 78418

Committal Service with Military Honors will be held from 9:15a.m.-9:35a.m. Friday, June 7, 2024 at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, Shelter #3, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd., San Antonio, TX 78209
