CMSgt. Carlton E. Brown, Sr. age 83, died March 17th after a long battle with lung cancer. Carlton was born January 31, 1930 in Gloucester, New Jersey to Burgess and Ellen Brown. He attended high school and college in St. Petersburg, Florida and pursued a degree in Music Education with a minor in English. In 1951 Carlton enlisted in the United States Air Force spending 27 years serving in Korea, Japan, France, Germany and many states in the U.S. and retired as Chief Master Sergeant of the Staff Judge Advocate Department, United States Air Force in 1977. After retirement from the Air Force, Carlton was employed as the Legal Administrator of law firms in Muscatine, Iowa and San Antonio, Texas until his final retirement in 1989. Carlton spent many years of his life also serving as choral directors and soloists at various churches throughout his military and retirement life bringing much joy to all who heard him sing. Carlton leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Maryetta, son Carl, Jr., daughter Lynda and her husband Ben, son Dan and his wife Ann, son Rodger and his wife Michelle, and grandchildren Travis, Jimmy (Brittany), Jennifer, Amy, Sami, Meghan, Colin, Joshua, and Ryan and one great-grandchild arriving in September. Services for Chief Brown will be March 27th at 1:00 PM at First Baptist Church 1401 Pat Booker Road, Universal City followed by interment at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Endearing Love Foundation at the church.
