Josephine Hoffart

Josephine was born in Summit, NJ and resided in Union for 73 years. She worked for AT&T, Elizabeth and was a sales associate for B Altman, Abraham & Strauss, and Macy’s in Short Hills. She was a member of the St. Genevieve’s Church Rosary Society and The Leisure Group, The Paper Mill Playhouse Guild, and the Union Senior Golden Age Club. She volunteered at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital with the Mother Gabrina Guild and was involved in starting the Girl Scouts at St. Genevieve’s School. She was also a charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus #253.

Beloved wife of 63 years to the late John Hoffart. Loving mother of John Hoffart and his wife Virginia, Marie Shramek and her husband William, and Jean Ann LaSpada and her husband Vincent. Adoring grandmother of 6 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Antoinette Zarrello, Angie Bloemer, and the late Rose Rillo and Nicholas Rillo.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, August 6th from 4-8 PM at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave., Union NJ 07083. A funeral mass will take place on Thursday, August 7th at 10 AM at St. Genevieve’s Church, Elizabeth, with interment to follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.
