Francine C. Kaufman

Francine Chepiga Kaufman of Union, NJ passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2020 with her family by her side, at the age of 78 but still young at heart.

Attractive and intelligent, she lit up the room. She was fun-loving with a special charm, sharp wit and great sense of humor. She was never afraid to be silly.

Born April 16, 1942 in Long Island City, NY to Frank and Margaret Chepiga, she grew up in Union, NJ where she attended Livingston School, Benedictine Academy and graduated from Union High School. She worked for 30 years as a medical assistant for podiatrists’ offices in Hillside and Livingston, NJ.

A loving individual whose priority was always her children; she was involved in all aspects of their lives. She took leadership positions in their classroom activities, sporting events and scouting. She provided major support to her children throughout their college years and to her husband throughout his career. She always put everyone else first. She deeply loved the family dog, Peppy, and all of our families’ pets.

She was creative and artistic in all aspects of anything homemade. Like her mom, she passed on that creativity to her children. Bowling was a family activity and she was a sports fan, enthusiastically participating from the sidelines or her couch. She never missed the Rose Bowl Parade.

Francine will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her loving husband John (Joe), children Joseph and Karen Kaufman, daughter-in-law Julie Kaufman (née Jacobson) and sister-in-law Margaret (Peggy) Carhart.

Visitors are welcome to McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave, Union, NJ 07083 on Wed, Oct. 21, 2020 from 4 PM to 8 PM. Funeral will be held at Holy Spirit Church, 971 Suburban Rd, Union, NJ 07083 on Thurs., Oct 22, at 10:30 AM followed by burial at St. Gertrude Cemetery, 53 Inman Ave, Colonia, NJ 07067.
