Brian Schmitt

He was born on July 25th, 1977, in Livingston, New Jersey to his adoring parents Gary & Carolyn Schmitt. During Brian's younger years, he played baseball, bowled, and ran around with his neighborhood friends, including EJ and Billy. With his dad, Brian went hunting and fishing. As he grew older, he established himself as a dependable gift to his community, serving in the Springfield and Union Township Fire Departments for 20 years. He will be dearly missed by his brothers and sisters, and all whom he served.

Brian leaves behind his loving wife of 18+ years, Sandra Schmitt, and their two boys, Brian (16), and Sean (14). He is also survived by his parents Gary & Carolyn Schmitt, sister, Shannon and nephews, Tyler and Zachary DaCosta. He was a proud patriot, loving husband, devoted father, loyal friend and dedicated firefighter.

Brian enjoyed spending time with his family. He was his mamma’s boy, his father’s best friend, his sister’s confidant and his nephews’ fan on the sidelines. To his children, he was their idol, role model and best friend. And to Sandra, he was her dream come true. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter and ever-lasting memories.

A visitation for Brian will be held Sunday, December 22, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave, Union, NJ 07083. A funeral service will occur Monday, December 23, 2024 at 10:00 AM, 1500 Morris Ave, Union, NJ 07083. A graveside service will directly follow this at Hollywood Memorial Park, 1500 Stuyvesant Ave., Union, NJ 07083. A repass will be held at The Westwood, 438 North Ave, Garwood, NJ 07027.
