University Medical Center.
An only child to orphaned parents, Frank or “Benji” as his closest friends called him, was a naval
veteran assigned to the Destroyer Escort U.S.S. Joyce 5th Battalion during the Korean War.
He was recognized by the Hudson County Board of Chosen Freeholders as their 2019 Veteran
of the Year as well as one of the Grand Marshals of Weehawken Township's 2021 Memorial day
parade.
Blessed with a marriage made in heaven on 9/10/1955 to Maria (Mary) DeLuca (pre deceased
3/20/2021) they built a life in Weehawken beginning in 1957 raising 3 children, Thomas, Robert,
and Donna.
A voracious reader of wartime novels, Frank found his calling in the print industry as both a
typesetter and proofreader beginning with Clark & Fritz in Manhattan and retiring in 1998 from
the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) in Jersey City.
Frank willingly served the community as a member of the local Elks Lodge and also as both a
Boy Scout troop leader and Cub Scout Webelos supervisor while his sons’ were of age.
Inspired perhaps by his scouting supervisory experience, Frank and Mary purchased two
campsites in the Poconos which provided a backdrop for countless retelling of occasionally
shocking stories around an evening campfire.
In the following years, Mary and Frank enjoyed frequent overnight forays to Atlantic City
casinos. Mary was a regular at the slot machines while Frank often gravitated to the blackjack
tables.
His greatest joys in recent years revolved around quality time spent with both his grandchildren
(Luke, Eliza, Kyle, Seth, Tyler, Cesare, and Griffin) and great-grandchildren (Wade, Tanner,
Elliot, Calvin, and Cameron Wade).
Services will be held on Saturday 11/23/24 9-11 am at Leber Funeral Home/Mack Memorial Home, 1245 Paterson
