Services for Roy Edwin “Pop Pop” Hacker, 86, will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2014, at 10 A.M. at Lloyd James Funeral Home in Tyler. Interment will follow at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery in Tyler. Officiants are the Revs. Gerry Giles and Ward Livingston, and Jim Bell, nephew. Visitation is scheduled from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday December 10, 2014 at Lloyd James Funeral Home in Tyler.
Mr. Hacker went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 7, 2014, under the care of Hospice of East Texas and Providence Park Nursing Facility in Tyler.
He was born May 23, 1928 in Dallas and was a graduate of Wilmer Hutchins High School. He worked 28 years as a diesel mechanic and shop manager for Norton Concrete and LaFarge Concrete. After his retirement he served on several committees at Glenwood United Methodist Church and St. Louis School/Wayne D. Boshears Center in Tyler. He was a member of the Fairwood United Methodist Church in Tyler.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Virginia Rose Hacker; his parents, Roy A. and Katheryn Elizabeth “Katie” Hacker; and brother, Robert “Bobby” Hacker.
He is survived by daughters, Karyn Hacker, of Tyler, Barbara and Harold Wilson, of Winnsboro, Robbyn and John Fancher, of Conroe, Becky and Lynn Butler, of Carrollton, Susan and Chuck Bishop, of Texarkana, Texas; and son, Ed and Stephanie Hacker, of Winona; one sister, Kathryn Bell and husband Jimmy; his seven beloved grandchildren, Lore and Will Muckelroy, Eric Hacker, Ryan and Malorie Hacker, Brittany Hacker, Morgan Butler, Madison Butler and Breezy Bishop; one great-grandson; three great-granddaughters; as well as nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and sons-in-law.
