Robert Allen Jennings

Robert was a Retired Police Sergeant for the Houston Police Department. He joined the HPD on January 13, 1969, Academy Class #40. During his tenure with the department, he was assigned to the Jail, Training, Special Operations, Emergency Communications, and Central Divisions. Sergeant Jennings retired on May 16, 2009 after 40 years and 12 days of service. He loved to teach shooting techniques and helping younger officers to help further advance their career in law enforcement. He loved crime shows and tried his best to figure out who the suspect was before the end of the show. Robert was a lover of traveling and listening to every song the Eagles had ever made on those trips. Having watched all of the movies and being on the last book of the series at the time of his passing, he had become a Harry Potter fan.

Robert is survived by his three children, Amanda Jennings, Robert Jennings & fiancé Marlen, William Jennings & wife Alissa; brother, Richard Jennings & wife Barbara and their children, Jason & wife Keely Jennings and Angie Jennings; sister, Thelma Buchanan & husband Donald and their children, Melissa Huffman, Nathan Buchanan & wife Kayla, Aaron Buchanan & wife Kerry; grandchildren, Jaycee, Mayghann and Nathan Jennings; aunt and uncle, Don & Jane Courtney, uncle, Richard Holts and a host of great nieces, nephews and friends. Robert was especially loved by his grand-dogs, Ruby & Sirius Jennings.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Wilma & Richard Jennings.

A Time of Visitation will be held on Friday, January 7, 2022 in the Chapel of Tyler Memorial Funeral Home from 5:00 - 8:00pm. A Celebration of Life Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home chapel at 9:30 am.
