Richard Henry Marsh, age 90, of Lindale, passed away in the early morning hours of Friday, June 15, 2012 at the Lindale Healthcare Center. Richard was born on January 30, 1922 in Long Beach, California. He attended Woodrow Wilson High School where he met and married the love of his life, Margaret Carter. They married in 1940, while still in high school, and together spent the next 65 years together raising a family and living a lifetime of memories until her passing in 2005. He joined the United States Navy in 1944 and saw combat throughout WWII. Upon returning state-side, Richard joined the United States Navy Reserves where he served as an Aviation Structural Mechanic Second Class until his retirement from the Reserves in 1982. He then retired from McDonald Douglas in 1988 after over 40 years of dedicated service. Richard had a passion for racing dune buggies and had a natural ability to grow any plant or tree. Those who knew Richard will remember him best for the deep love he had for his family. Richards’ best memories came from the time he spent with his loving wife, children, grandchildren, and friends.
Richard is survived by four children, Jeff Marsh, and wife Rosemary, Cindee Tinnen, and husband Bill, Diana Storey, and husband Gary, and Margie Garnetti, and husband Dave; grandchildren, Robyn Lynn Nava, Greg Marsh, Jeff Marsh, Jr., Tesha Kelley, Chris Tinnen, Andy Tinnen, Rick Spoolstra, Julie Dahmer, Tim Spence, Carrie Williams, Danny Slodowick, Christy Gallip, Andrea Franick, Amber Zetterberg, Amanda Cox, and Shane Garnetti; 39 great-grandchildren; and by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Mr. Marsh was also preceded in death by one son, Steven Marsh, one sister, Dorothy Hill, and one brother, Lawrence Marsh.
Graveside services for Richard Marsh will be held at 4:00 P.M., Monday, June 18, 2012 at Tyler Memorial Park with Pastor David Hicks officiating. The Patriot Guard of East Texas will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews, Melvin Marsh, Larry Marsh, and Jim Bell, all of California.
