Lena Idelle Strength

Lena Strength passed away on May 10, 2023 in Tyler, TX at the age of 93. Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life at the Graveside services to be held Saturday, May 20, 2023, 11:00 am at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery, with Rev, Chuck Ward officiating.

Lena was born Feb 21,1930 to Percy Harry McLaughlin, Sr and Angie Benton McLaughlin in Hammond, Louisiana.

She became a resident of Tyler, TX in 1966 when she married Luther Strength. She was able to devote herself to being a full-time homemaker and mom. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, arts and crafts, gardening, playing cards and Mahjong with friends. She was a great Southern Cook and always looked forward to having family over for Sunday and Holiday Dinners.

Lena was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

Survived by her loving family are daughters, Jeannette Hart (Roy), Evelyn Neeley (Danny), Charlotte Brady, Betty Jo Edwards (Steve) and son Dr. Steve Strength. Also survived by her brother Bob Martin (Joy) as well as 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents, husbands Roy Amacker (1962) and Luther Strength (2004), brothers Harry Gennaro, Roy Gennaro, sisters, Dorothy Scordato, Helen Perry and stepdaughter Judy Strength and step-grandson Luke Powell.

The family wishes to thank Oak Hills Terrace Memory Care and Hospice of East Texas for the care they gave our mother.
