Kenneth James Orr, 99, passed away on August 8, 2017. Following a private graveside service, a memorial celebration will be held at St. Francis Episcopal Church on Friday, August 11, 2017, at 11:30 a.m. in Tyler, Texas.
Ken was born in Pavillion, New York, and spent his young life there. He graduated from the University of Buffalo as an electrical engineer. Following college, he joined the United States Navy during World War II. After the war, he went on to work in his chosen field.
Mr. Orr married Jo Hart in 1987, and lived in Dallas and Georgetown, Texas before settling in Tyler, Texas. Jo and Ken joined St. Francis Episcopal Church upon their arrival in Tyler. Ken’s hobbies included getting his private pilot’s license, traveling, and restoring antique cars.
Ken was preceded in death by his wife, Marietta Brown Orr; daughter Linda S. Orr; brother Willard Orr; and his parents Glenn N and Jennie Marie Biggart Orr.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Jo H. Orr; son Terry Orr and wife Patricia; and daughter Debbie Calhoun and husband Steve.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of East Texas, St. Francis Episcopal Church, or the charity of your choice.
