JoAnn Nunley

JoAnn was born on September 29, 1943 in Gary, Tx. to Robert Lee Thomas and Hattie Lura Heaton Thomas. She attended school in Carthage, Tx. until she met her soon to be husband, Don Nunley. They married 3 months later on May 18, 1961. JoAnn and Don moved to DeRidder, La. in 1969 and JoAnn along with her husband, sister, Francis Ritter and her husband, L.M. began their retail and service business for Singer Sewing Machines. She stayed busy by being active in her business, church and caring for members of her local community until moving to Whitehouse, Tx. in 2008 to be near family. Her hobbies were crocheting, painting and designing floral arrangements.

Her greatest joy was her family, which included her husband, 2 daughters, 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

JoAnn is preceded in death by her father, Robert Lee Thomas; her mother, Hattie Lura Heaton Thomas; brother, Sampson David Thomas; sister, Frances Thomas Ritter and nephew, David Wayne Thomas. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Don Nunley; daughter, Cherie Templin and husband, Robert; daughter, Donna Norris; grandchildren, Amanda and Jaime Crouse, Joshua and Julie Templin, Kelsey Norris, Alan and Erica Templin, Katie Norris and Alex Norris; brother, Robert Roland Thomas; great-grandchildren, Madison, Brooklyn, Easton, Aaron, Elijah, Haylee Grace, Jennifer and Hadleigh. Many nieces and nephews, which includes her niece and best friend, Susan Pate.

A time of Visitation and gathering for JoAnn will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Monday, May 16, 2022 at Lloyd James Funeral Home, with Services beginning at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Gib Baskerville and Dr. Ron Herring officiating. She will be laid to rest at Shalom Cemetery near Carthage.

Pallbearers are Marshall Thomas, Stephen Pate, Bradley Pate, Jaime Crouse, Joshua Templin, Alan Templin and Alex Norris.

Honorary Pallbearers are Easton Crouse, Aaron Templin and Elijah Templin.
