James Luther Squyres, age 71, of Tyler passed away in his sleep in the early morning hours of Tuesday, November 13, 2012, at the Hospice of East Texas, with his loving daughter by his side. James was born in Oakwood, Texas on July 3,1941 to the late Doc and Hazel Congleton Squyres. He was raised in Palestine and spent the majority of his life living in the Tyler area. James had a sense of freedom and love of the open road that led him through his lifelong career as a truck driver.
James is survived by one daughter, Jamie Jackson and husband David, of Chapel Hill; sister, Sue Daniel of Frankston; the mother of his girls, Sylvia Whisenant of Lindale; and by 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Rainey Lynn; a brother, Willis Squyres; and his baby sister, Juanita Gage.
A memorial service for James Squyres will be held at 12:00 P.M., Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Lloyd James Funeral Home with Danny Jackson officiating.
The family would like to extend a special heartfelt appreciation to the Hospice of East Texas, especially to his home health nurses Susan Cox and Barbara Wedgeworth.
