After a life well lived, James Inge Grant Jr, or “Inge”, peacefully passed away on March 31, 2025 at the age of 85, leaving behind a legacy of faith, family, and good works. Inge was born August 15th,1939 to James Inge Grant and Alice Sutton Grant in Dallas, Tx.
Inge took an early interest in the outdoors and scouting, and became an Eagle Scout, before meeting the love of his life, Ann Harrington on the school bus on the first day of school in Houston, Tx., marking the beginning of a love story that would span the next 7 decades.
After earning his Engineering Degree from SMU, Inge married his beloved “Annie” in July of 1960. Big D wasn’t big enough to hold them and the couple traveled the world, sharing their love and adventures as the family grew through the years. They especially loved the mountains of Colorado and Montana, and the beaches and bays of Sargent, Tx.
Anybody who knew Inge would recall his love of flight, an obsession he acquired from Ann’s father at a young age. His flying was entertaining and sometimes terrifying, and his two youngest children Doug and Kathy still tell the stories if you ask.
Inge was a believer, and a doer of the Word. To him Faith and family came first. Whether it was leading a Bible Study, participating in retreats, Bible Study Fellowship, or fishing, skiing, boating, or lecturing his children, he did all to the glory of God. No man could set a better example than Inge Grant.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 64 years, Ann Grant; his son, James Inge Grant III and wife, Debbie of Flower Mound, Tx; son, Douglas Grant and wife Lily of San Antonio; his favorite daughter, Kathy and husband Andy, Jones of Bullard, Tx; his grandchildren, Jay, Dustin, Ryan, Timothy and Nathaniel, and his great grandchildren, Matthew, Joshua, Mason and Noah, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and friends and neighbors.
Visitation will be held at 1PM Friday, April 4th at the Emerald Bay Community Church in Bullard, followed by a Celebration of life at 1:30 PM, under direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home. A family burial will be held in Houston at the Garden of Memories Cemetery, Friday, April 11th.
In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (www.lls.org) or The Leukemia Research Foundation (leukemiarf.org)
