Services for Earnest (Ray) Jackson, Jr., 80, of Arp, TX are scheduled for 11:00am, December 6, 2016 in the chapel of Lloyd James Funeral Home, Tyler, TX. Graveside services will be held December 6 at 2:30pm at Oaklawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 1552 State Hwy 7E, Center, TX.
Ray passed away on December 2, 2016 at his home in Arp.
He was born on September 6, 1936 in Corsicana, TX to the late Earnest Ray Sr. and Mary Ruth Jackson.
Ray was raised in Athens, TX and graduated from Athens High School in 1954 and Henderson County Jr. College in 1956. He met Keitha Lane Franks in 1958 and they were married in 1959. They moved to Austin in 1961 where he worked full-time for the Texas Highway Department while providing for his family and also attending the University of Texas at Austin where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1969. After graduating, he moved his family to Tyler, TX where he was employed by Kelly Springfield Tire Co. until he retired in 1992 as the Manager of Engineering and Maintenance.
Ray is survived by Keitha, his wife of 57 years, his daughter Diane and son-in-law Paul Twomey, his daughter Lori and son-in-law Tim Ehmke, his sister and brother-in-law Mary and Kenneth Crossley, his very special aunt Christine Williams,and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Kerry Franks, Loy "String" Williams, Jim Coats, Tom Hammond, Richard Poyner and Tom McKay.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the charity of your choice.
