Memorial services for David Brian Stanley, 73, of Tyler are scheduled for 10:00am, Saturday, January 16, 2016 in the chapel of Lloyd James Funeral Home with family and friends officiating. He will be inurned in Rose Hill Cemetery immediately following the memorial service.
Mr. Stanley passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2016 in Tyler.
He was born on October 6, 1942 in Marinette, Wisconsin to Ernest Carl Peterson and Marie Claire LaValley. In 1967 he graduated from the University of Texas and following graduation served in the U. S. Army in Korea for two years. He was a Catholic, long-time Tyler resident and the owner of David Stanley Used Cars for 30 years. David’s passions included UT sports, politics, auto racing and Dallas-based professional sports teams.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his adopted father, Capt. Burt Stanley USN.
Survivors include the mother of his sons, Marilyn Stanley Sumner; sons, Clayton Stanley and wife Kristin of Dallas, Laurence Stanley and wife Diane of Austin and Jordan Stanley of San Marcos; grandchildren, Luke, Noah, Logan and Emma Stanley; brother, John Stanley of Naples, Florida; sisters, Maureen McGinity and husband Joe of Yardley, Pennsylvania; Pat Kurzenberger and husband Bill of Westlake, Ohio and Diane Vennema and husband Peter of Santa Fe, New Mexico; and 14 nieces and nephews.
