Carolyn Ruth Gore

Our sweet Carolyn left this world to go walking the golden beaches of heaven on May 20, 2021. Carolyn was a God-fearing Christian woman who was prepared to see her Lord. In Coleman, TX, she was born to Herman Rackow and Billie Alston on June 15, 1945. She married Bobby Wilburn Gore on August 28, 1962, in Odessa, TX. Carolyn traveled lived in Florida for a short time before returning to Texas. Carolyn was loved by everyone who came in contact with her. She could make you feel as though you had known her all your life. She was always smiling even after fighting cancer for over five years. Even with being sick, she always had a beautiful smile that just made everyone around her smile. She loved to work in her garden of trees and flowers. She could make anything grow and become a beautiful thing just like her. When you went to her home, she would introduce you to all of her plants and trees by name (she would name each and every one!). She loved going fishing and camping at Mustang Island in Port Aransas, traveling to Terlingua to see God’s country. She went hunting for shark teeth with her entire family, hunting for diamonds in Arkansas, rock hunting, and having a massive love for the family where they always came first.

She was an amazing mother to Dwayne, her one and only, but she also loved her niece LaDonna as her own. The thing she loved the most was her son Dwayne, who was the light of her life. The memories of Dwayne were that they never argued, had a strong bond, enjoyed going to Hawaii with him making memories by playing on the beach and in the water with him. Carolyn treated all of her nieces and nephews as her own and cherished all the times she had with them. She was always taking in strays (people) who were alone in this world and cared for them, bringing them into the family, making them one of their own. She very much enjoyed it when the little ones came to visit her. She loved Hummingbirds and would always put out feeders for them and wild birds (even for the squirrels). Carolyn will be missed by us all, her family and her friend’s family. She will always be close to us in our hearts.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her Father, Herman Fritz Rackow; Mother, Billie Ruth Alston; Husband, Bobby Wilburn Gore; Sister-in-Law, Leigha Rackow; Great-nephew, Brent Rains; and Companion, Michael Hockman.

Carolyn leaves behind Son, Robert Dwayne Gore of Dallas, TX; Brother, Eddie Rackow of Hamilton, TX; Sister, Brenda Martin of Berryville, TX; Brother, Gary Rackow of Ben Wheeler, TX; Nephews: Brian Rackow and wife Debra, Richard Rains, Kristopher Martin and wife Laura, Kit Rackow and wife Kristi; Nieces: Kimberly Hendrick and husband Michael, LaDonna Ford and husband Joseph, Shelly Rackow, Crystal Rackow, Sarah McPherson and husband Arrend; and many beautiful great-nieces and great-nephews and many friends.

A celebration of life for Carolyn will be held Saturday, June 12, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Tyler Memorial Funeral Home.
