Rex was born on May 9, 1920, in Burley, Idaho to Horace Osborne Hall and Leona Blanche Pickett Hall. Rex grew up in Burley where he lived until he graduated from high school. After graduation, Rex attended Brigham Young University where he met Betty Jean Stapley of Mesa, Arizona. They were married on Dec. 31, 1944, while Rex was on leave from the Navy where he served as an officer during World War II. After the war, the couple returned to Provo, Utah, where Rex completed a degree in agronomy. He was then accepted to the University of Oregon in Portland, where he graduated 2nd in his class in dentistry. After graduating in 1949, Rex opened his dental office in Twin Falls where he practiced until his retirement.
During his years as a dentist, Rex served as president of the Idaho Dental Association and was a member of the Board of Examiners. Rex enjoyed his chosen career; however, his family and church responsibilities were his priorities. Among other callings, Rex served for many years as a ward bishop and as a counselor in the Twin Falls Stake Presidency. In 1989, he retired from his practice so that he and Betty could serve a mission in Branson, Missouri, for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Rex will always be remembered by his children for his strength and integrity, his loving care of and example to them, and his faithful commitment to his many church callings.
Rex is survived by his five children, Linda Condie (Tom) of Twin Falls, Robert Hall (Mitzi) of Hailey, Marsha Hall Atkin, of San Jose, CA, Marilyn (Kim) Nilsen of Hailey, Carolyn (Dave) Browning of Twin Falls, and one brother, Forrest Hall of Burley. He was a loving grandfather to his 34 grandchildren and his 78 great grandchildren. Rex was preceded in death by his beloved wife Betty of 62 years, three grandchildren, one daughter-in-law, and one sister.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014, at the Twin Falls Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2085 South Temple. Dr. Bishop Kay Sorensen will officiate. Family will greet friends on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at White Mortuary, and one hour prior to the service at the stake center.
