Jean was born on August 23, 1933 in Twin Falls, Idaho. She was the first of three children born to Lester Eugene McGregor and Ola Nadine Coleman McGregor. She attended school in Berger, Hollister and graduated from Filer High School in 1951 as Valedictorian. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Filer.
She met the love of her life, Paul Edward Miller in 1949 when he traveled to Idaho from Indiana on a Harley to visit his uncle Paul Marlow, who worked for Jeanie’s Dad. Paul and Jean fell in love and were married May 31, 1953 at the First Baptist Church in Filer. They lived at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina until Paul was honorably discharged from the Marines. They traveled to Indiana hoping to buy a farm. Unable to find something there, they moved back to Idaho to work for Jeanie’s Dad on his farm. Paul and Jean bought their first farm in 1956 on the Salmon Tract. Jean worked as a bookkeeper at Barnard Auto and then at Wills Motor Co. until 1958, when their first child was born. She became a homemaker and in 1960 their second child was born. She was a wonderful mother, who loved her children dearly. Jean loved spending time with her family fishing, camping, bowling, traveling and golfing. She also enjoyed gardening, canning and painting. She was an amazing cook.
In 1977, they purchased the Magic Bowl where Jean worked countless hours managing the lunch counter and bookkeeping until retiring in 1996.
After becoming a grandparent, her passion was caring for her four grandchildren, whom she loved with all her heart. We could always count on her to babysit. She was also blessed with three great-grandchildren whom she adored.
One of Jean’s greatest gifts was finding a “silver lining in every cloud”. No matter what, she was always optimistic and had faith that things would work out.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Donald Fredrick McGregor; a granddaughter, Sarah Marie Jones; and nephews David Ray Pullin and Brian Lee McGregor.
She is survived by her loving husband, Paul, of 59 years; a sister, Shirley (Pete) Pullin; a daughter, Diana (Doug) Jones and their daughter, Becky (Jake) Webb; great-grandchildren, Jackson and Lilly Webb; a son, Jerry (Patti) Miller and their daughters Lacy and Megan Miller, great-granddaughter Jaydyn Turner, and many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all of us.
A celebration of Jean’s life will be held on Saturday, January 12th at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Filer. Visitation for family and friends will be from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Friday, January 11th at White Mortuary “Chapel by the Park.” Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
