Alice Marie Winn, 78, of Twin Falls passed away Thursday evening, July 7, 2016 at the Ashley Manor Assisted Living Center in Twin Falls.
Alice was born May 21, 1938 in Lead, South Dakota, the daughter of Lloyd and Lillie Reed. She grew up in South Dakota and at the age of 6 she moved with her family to Colorado. She attended Windsor High School and graduated from Hudson High School in 1956. She furthered her education at the Metropolitan State College in Denver while working at Mountain Bell.
On June 3, 1960, Alice married Phil Winn at the Trinity Methodist Church in Denver. Together they raised two sons, Curt and Scott. They recently celebrated 56 years of marriage.
In 1994, Alice and Phil moved to Florence, Arizona where they resided for 20 years. In October of 2014, they moved to Twin Falls, Idaho to be closer to family.
Alice taught pre-school and thoroughly enjoyed teaching children. She was a great educator and friend. She not only taught school during the week but also taught Sunday school in her church.
Alice enjoyed reading, teaching children and was an excellent toll painter. She loved to travel. They traveled all 49 states in their RV over the years. They even made it to Hawaii to make it all 50 states. Every 3 years her family has a reunion and over all those years she only missed one. She loved her family and was a genealogist for both sides of her family.
Following their retirement they both became very active in the senior citizen centers where they lived. They especially enjoyed the Twin Falls Senior Citizens Center and loved the people here. She was known as the “lady who is full of hugs” as she would come in and give everyone a warm hug.
She is loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Alice is survived by her husband of 56 years, Phil Winn of Twin Falls; her two sons, Curtis D. Winn of Superior, Colorado and Scott A. Winn (Cheryl “Dee Dee”) Winn of Twin Falls; two brothers, Dale Reed of Platteville, Colorado and Nathan “Butch” Reed of Riverton, Wyoming. She is also survived by her 5 grandchildren whom she adored, Dalton, Drake, Harrison, Jake and Dani. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A celebration of Alice’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on July 30, 2016 at the Crown Hill Mortuary, 7777 W. 29th Ave. in Wheat Ridge, Colorado 80033. Inurnment will follow at the Crown Hill Cemetery. Local arrangements are under the direction of White Mortuary, Chapel by the Park, Twin Falls.
