RALPH Thomas Luverne Jones, age 77, of Ralph, died March 26, 2011, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Columbus Bernard and Grace McMurry Jones; sister, Roberta Seigler; and brothers, Carl and Robert.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Jones; daughters, Angela Jones Harlan (Jeff) of Geneva, Ill. and Pamela J. Rymer (Ricky) of Vance; sister, Ann Jones Thornton of Northport; grandchildren, Brandon Rymer (Meredith) and Kari and Jillian Harlan; great-grandchildren, Lexus Rymer, Libby Rymer, Tyler Rymer, and Trooper Rymer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Thomas L. Jones was born March 13, 1934, in Holt, Ala. He was the son of Columbus Bernard and Grace (McMurry) Jones. The Jones family migrated to the State of California when Tom was a teen, where he ultimately met his wife, Ruth Pearson, in Porterville. Tom and Ruth lived in numerous states throughout their 56 years of marriage, but moved back to his home state 20 years ago.
Tom had many professions during his working career, including truck driver, foundry worker, handyman, carpenter, and real estate management. Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing, and bowling during his life, but loved studying the Bible more than any other hobby.
Tom will most be remembered as a dedicated and loving friend, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and husband.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Jones, David Jones, Bruce Jones, Brian Jones, David Watson, Wayne Barger, Kenny Frye, and James Frye.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Lung Association or American Diabetes Association .
