

Lelia Ann Gayles-Cammon, affectionately known as Lee Ann, passed away peacefully on March 24th 2025, leaving behind a legacy of faith, service, and love. Born on March 13, 1941, in Harlan County, Kentucky, to the late David and Virginia Gayles, Lee Ann's life was one of dedication and compassion. The Gayles family later relocated to Bell, Kentucky, where Lee Ann continued her education. Demonstrating a strong commitment to learning, she earned an Associate's Degree from Morristown Industrial College in Tennessee before transferring to Kentucky State University in Frankfort, Kentucky. A devout Christian from an early age, Lee Ann's faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was a dedicated member of the Methodist Church, serving as a stewardess, choir member, and active participant in the Pastor's Aid Board and Hospitality Board. After moving and joining St. Paul AME Church, she was also honored as an honorary member of the Cosmopolitan Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in the Bronx, New York. Lee Ann's professional life was marked by versatility and a commitment to serving others. She worked as a dental assistant in Michigan and New York City, contributed to the American Red Cross of Greater New York City, and shared her knowledge as a teacher and substitute teacher in Michigan, Tennessee, and Kentucky. She also held a position at Citicorp in New York, NY. On September 2, 1969, Lee Ann married Homer Cammon, with whom she shared a loving partnership. She leaves to cherish her memory her three children: Shawn Cammon of Alabama, Ebonie Loren Lee of Alabama, and Nikkia Cammon of New York. She was also a proud and loving grandmother to five grandchildren. Arrangements are being handled by Memory Chapel Funeral Home and Memory Hill Gardens. In accordance with Lee Ann’s wishes, there will be no memorial service. Please feel free to share your condolences. We will truly miss Mrs. Lelia Ann.
