A memorial service for Joe will be held Sunday, November 28, 2021 at 2:30 PM at Southern House and Garden, 15308 Shepard Park Road, Knoxville, AL 35469, the family will receive friends for a visitation period immediately following the service.
Born in Tuscaloosa, AL April 02, 1955, he was a graduate of Tuscaloosa High School, Class of 1974. Joe went on to the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers to become a journeyman electrician. He was the owner of Double D Electric in Tuscaloosa. He and his company were assigned to large projects that took them to other countries. Joe’s favorite hobbies were anything outdoors, fishing, hunting and traveling. Joe loved to be around friends and his love for his family ran deep. Joe was an awesome son, father, husband and Pop. He was very proud of his sons Josh and Tristion.
He was preceded in death by his parents Glen and Barbara Gilmore, his wife of 38 years Deborah Strickland Gilmore; grandchildren Clara and RT Springfield and grandparents Fred and Carol Gilmore.
He is survived by his wife Stephanie Patterson Gilmore; sons Joseph Glen Gilmore (Josh) and Tristion Glendon Gilmore; sisters Glenda Gilmore Porter (Ron) of Tuscaloosa and Karen Gilmore Fields (Jeff) of Bessemer; grandchildren: Gunnar Gilmore and Harlan Gilmore.
The family wishes to recognize: IBEW, Morgan and Jane Sellers, Al and Donna Strickland, Jim and Toni Lea Smith, Brian (Boo Boo) Thomas, Billy and Nancy Avery, Neil Snipes, Leroy McAbee, Kevin and Melissa Lancaster, Amy and Shane Hycrick, Shorty Eatmon, Angela Stanton, Paris Marie and Bradford; Mike Ousley, Ashley Hallman-Ballentine and Dr. Stephen Browne and Staff as Honorary Pallbearers.
