Mama often said she was born loving Jesus.
She was born and grew up on a farm in the Mississippi delta south of Greenville. She graduated from Riverside High School, loved school, and participated in multiple extracurricular activities including playing basketball, cheerleading, Home Demonstration Club, and 4-H Club. Mama was voted “most beautiful” but her yeast rolls placing # 1 in the State of Mississippi that year meant more to her than her “beauty”.
She and daddy moved to Tuscaloosa in 1959 where he taught Electrical Engineering at the University of Alabama. After moving to Tuscaloosa, they joined Circlewood Baptist Church. Her life revolved around God, family, friends, and the church. She participated in Sunday School, Bible Study, choir, and WMU. She loved God, daddy, her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, crossword puzzles, reading, sewing, cooking, camping with the Circlewood Camping Group and gardening.
She lived a life of service and kindness to others. No matter what she was doing, if someone needed help, she would immediately go. It did not matter who you were, or if she knew you, she was there with her quiet, gentle, kind nature.
She was a living example of being the hands and feet of Jesus.
We, her family, have been blessed to have been loved by mama.
Pallbearers will be family. Honorary Pallbearers are Members of Circlewood Baptist Church, Staff and residents of The Crossings and Morning Pointe.
