I was looking for information for the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering and saw the obituary for your mom. Even though I was never privileged to meet her I feel like I knew her through you Janene. I have fond memories of our time in Ft. Worth!

It was the twinkle in her eyes. Her curiosity, her joy, her musings… If the eyes are indeed the windows of the soul, the temple inside her held a bright white light that twinkled out of its windows, flickering onto the faces of those on whom she looked. Some women have that spark, that twinkles when they are young and vibrant or full of zeal for the Lord, but very precious few have it until the end of their lives. Understandably. Life can hold deep losses and unexpected tragedies, the kind that would cause anyone’s light to grow dim or even be extinguished in such cold realities. But not for Aunt Jane. Her life held terrible suffering and loss, the unimaginable, and yet, if you did not know her story, you would not find it in her eyes.  It was the twinkle, ever twinkling. With humor and humility, she would deflect praise, offering instead some kind response that removed the focus from her. She would not take credit for the light; it wasn’t hers. Hers was the earthen temple that held the treasure, the light that no darkness could overcome, the very spirit of God, housed in a beautiful, willing, able vessel. She was often invisible, as the wife of a military officer, as a mother, as a missionary, as my Aunt Jane—but she chose that invisibility to make visible the light of God. We are finally free to communicate and confirm these truths because Aunt Jane isn’t here to deflect them. The twinkle is with its source. The river is now with the ocean. The saint is with the kingdom. Oh Lord, I want to be in that number, when the saints go marching in. By the grace of God, I’ll be marching too, trying to keep up, somewhere behind the one with the twinkle.

   I have known the late Mrs. Jane Weller since 1983. She came to my house with the late Pastor Weller, Pastor Morries and Mrs. May Morries to start a church ministry. Through there, I started a bond with her. I'm glad we kept in touch even after all these years. In fact, two weeks ago, I called her and it was a good call. She was able to hear well and was able to have a good conversation with me.

   She was a wonderful and inspiring person. I learnt so much from her and she was a good example for me. She was very caring as she came all the way to Malaysia to visit me and others. She is very kind and loving. I will never forget the smile on her face and all the memories we had. I miss you the late Mrs. Weller.

Mrs. Weller was someone special during her time at Johor Bahru Baptist Church. I loved her specially baked Apple Pie. Pastor Jac used to lead a bible study group in church and he will always joke with us “have you earned your wages today”. Mrs. Weller will always be there with a supporting and smiling face. It was a joy to look after their house while they were back home in the States.
Their love and service for the Lord truly encouraged me till this day.

We met the Welters in Malaysia and were very impressed with them.  We always looked forward to our visits with them because of their friendliness and outgoing love.  Jane was very special and always showed the love of Christ in all she said and did.  I will miss her.

Jane was a most precious & sweet lady. I enjoyed our walks & talks through the neighborhood...seeing & talking about all the flowers. Now she’s seeing the most beautiful flowers of all. I love you Jane & will miss you! Pick a heavenly rose & know I’m thinking of you. RIP my friend.

Jane was a very, very special person who always brought joy into every occasion, but was sensible and thoughtful at the same time. It was our privilege to serve along with her and Jac in Malaysia and Singapore where they were highly respected and loved by the nationals among whom they served.  Her testimony was strong and faithful and, no doubt, she is glorying in hearing her Savior say, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant.  Enter into thy rest."

Ever smiling and patient, Mrs Weller has always been a pillar of quiet strength and certainly a wonderful example of God-loving woman. Everyone watched and learned from her what loving God and serving God can be like. We can only thank God for bringing Mrs Weller into our lives. In between tears for her passing, we rejoice with everyone as we know that she has entered everlasting joy and peace in God. Praise be to God!
