Debra Sue Turner, 70, of Tuscaloosa, passed away on July 20, 2022 at DCH. A private family service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Memory Chapel, a Dignity Memorial provider.
Sue was born August 17, 1951 to the late Leland McCool and Mamie Dale Heath McCool. She was a lifelong resident of Tuscaloosa. Her personality was infectious, as she “never met a stranger.” She was a collector of anything “giraffe” having numerous Christmas Ornaments, figurines, and any imaginable product or “Knick-Knack” that featured her most beloved icon. The matriarch of her family, she loved spending time with her family and she was always happy in the kitchen, where she excelled making delicious treats and dinner staples for her family to enjoy. She was fond of rainbows, always a constant reminder of God’s Promises, and she enjoyed nature, primarily through birdwatching, but always admiring God’s wonderful creation. Sue lead by example always showing unconditional love to her family, she was an amazing wife and friend, a wonderful mother and a proud “Maw Maw.” The immense void left by her passing with always be felt by those in her life who loved her beyond measure.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister Regina Felasoft. Sue is survived by her husband of 53+ years Curtis W. Turner; three sons: Curtis Turner (Amy), Christopher Turner (Amy) and Chad Turner; daughter: Suzy Price (Duke); six grandchildren: Zackary Price, Abbigail Price, Joshua Turner, Tyler Turner, Caitlyn Turner, Annalise Turner; sisters: Patricia Johnson and Teresa Espinosa; brother: Terrell McCool; her beloved puppy “Cocoa.” She is also survived by her three special life-long friends: Debra Spencer, Debbie Taylor and Dianne Gilbert; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
