May 30, 1951 - July 30, 2016
Richard Glenn Parman went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 30, 2016, passing peacefully with his children and family at his side in Hughson, CA. Born May 30, 1951 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, he moved to California at an early age. Richard was married in 1978 to wife Lidia, and with their four children they made Modesto their home. He was a resident of Stanislaus County for more than 57 years. Richard is survived by wife Lidia; sons Christopher Parman and Brian Parman, daughters Allyson Parman and Stefanie (Steven) Parman-Bettencourt; grandson Samuel Parman; siblings Glenda Carella, Nelda Parman, Douglas (Marilyn) Parman, and Russell (Jennifer) Parman; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Janis Parman, brothers Jerry Blair and Larry Parman, and sister Nita Hopkins.
Richard enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Spring of 1969, where he proudly served his country for nearly 8 years. He is a Veteran of the Vietnam War. After leaving the military, Richard was employed by the FAA as an air traffic controller, which was a true passion for him. He joined the California Highway Patrol in 1984, where he continued a career of honor and service until his retirement in 2007.
Richard was a man of endless talents, a jack of all trades and problem solver. He was adept at automotive repairs and woodworking, loved reading and a good stiff drink, hated to miss an episode of Jeopardy, found comfort and joy in music, and enjoyed vacationing in Mexico. But his greatest joy and achievement in this life was his four children. He spent his final days sharing his immense love with all of them.
