Daniel - Downey

October 14, 1929 ~ November 4, 2011

Age 82 entered into rest in Turlock, CA, He was born in Rathfriland, County Down, Northern Ireland. Dan was a District Manager for CSAA for 32 years. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church of Turlock, the Rotary Club of Turlock, Sons in Retirement, the Turlock Arts Commission, Stanislaus County Commission on Aging, on the Board of Directors of the Salvation Army of Turlock, Irish Cultural Society of Stanislaus County, volunteered with the United Samaritans, and served as an elected member of the Stanislaus County Democratic Central Committee. Dan’s zest for life, spry sense of humor, indomitable spirit, and generosity in sharing his many talents was memorable. He enjoyed music, sports, a good discussion and spending time with his grandchildren, family, and friends.

Dan is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Janice Downey, daughters Sheila Rose, Kathy Goldstone, Bridget Trejo, Sharon Whelan, sons Patrick and Sean Downey, and brothers Lawrence, Leo, Eamon and Brendan Downey.

He leaves a lineage of 12 grandchildren ranging in age from 22 years to 6 months, who all affectionately called him Dado. Preceded in death by his parents- Charles and Mary Caroline Downey and two brothers Kevin and Charles Downey.
